Product Details

The Automobile Engine Assembly Line is a fully customizable, non-standard production system built around a power and free accumulating pallet conveyor backbone. It transfers automotive gasoline engines from sub-assembled components through final assembly to offline testing. Core modules—cylinder blocks, crankshafts, cylinder heads, and timing components—are pre-assembled in a dedicated section, then transferred to the main conveyor line for final build and testing. This two-section layout prevents bottlenecks and improves throughput.

All specifications below are baseline references—every module can be engineered to your exact engine model, workshop layout, and production targets.

Process Flow: From Sub-Assembly to Final Assembly

Automotive engine assembly is divided into two stages:

  • Sub-assembly: Major systems built separately—cylinder block with crankshaft and pistons, cylinder head with valves and lifters, timing drive, and fuel system (fuel rail, injectors, throttle body).
  • Main line assembly: Pre-assembled modules brought together on the conveyor main line. Fastening with high-strength bolts under controlled torque; no welding required.

After final assembly, each engine enters Oiling → Testing → Oil Draining: a measured amount of oil is injected, then the engine is run on a cold or hot test bench to verify power, torque, sealing, and NVH. Test time: 3–5 minutes per unit. Failed units route to rework; passed units are drained and packaged.

Line Architecture: Power & Free Pallet Conveyor + Tooling + Positioning

This line uses a segmented power and free closed-loop pallet conveyor architecture:

  • Dual independent conveyor loops: Pre-assembly and final assembly run on two separate closed-loop pallet lines. Semi-finished engines transfer without congestion.
  • Dedicated tooling pallets: Engine-specific fixtures mounted on pallets. Multi-point clamping locks the block in place—no shift, no vibration, machined surfaces protected. Fixture design is fully customized per engine housing.
  • Stopper + locating pins: Pneumatic stoppers and hardened pins at each station. Repeatability ±0.2mm, meeting head bolt and bearing cap tightening precision.
  • Zero-pressure accumulation: Pallets accumulate without pressure if one station stops. Rest of the line keeps running.

  • Controls: PLC (Siemens / Mitsubishi / Omron / Rockwell), HMI, ANDON, MES integration, Poka-Yoke.
  • Environment: Oil guards, drip trays, sealed rails, soundproof test enclosures.
  • Loading: Overhead crane, lift table, AGV docking.
  • Line scale: 6–24 stations, any length, any layout (straight, L-shape, U-shape, loop).

Applications

  • Passenger car & light commercial gasoline engine final assembly
  • Hybrid powertrain / range-extender engine assembly
  • Engine remanufacturing lines

If you have a specific engine model (displacement, block drawing, target capacity), send it over—we’ll return a line layout, station list, and quotation within 48 hours. No off-the-shelf guesswork; every proposal is engineered from your actual data.
