Product Overview
This forklift assembly line is an automated conveyor and assembly system specifically designed for the final assembly of complete forklift trucks. It supports mixed-model production for various vehicle types, including internal combustion (IC) forklifts, electric forklifts, and warehouse forklifts. The line utilizes a floor-mounted tow chain conveyor as its core, integrated with companion assembly trolleys, workstation tooling, and line-side logistics systems. This setup enables fully streamlined operations from chassis loading to final vehicle roll-off. Key parameters—such as line length, number of workstations, trolley dimensions, and load capacity—can be fully customized to meet specific production capacity requirements and factory layouts, making it core equipment for forklift manufacturers aiming to boost output and ensure consistent quality.
Conveying System: Floor Tow Chain + Carrier Trolleys
The line employs an in-floor tow chain conveyor. The chain runs at a constant speed within a ground trench, and assembly trolleys move along with it by engaging pins that mesh with the chain. Upon reaching a workstation, the trolleys automatically disengage and lock into position; once the operation is complete, they re-engage to advance. The trolleys are custom-built to match the chassis dimensions of the forklifts, using the chassis itself as the assembly基准 (datum) to carry the workpiece, thereby eliminating the need for secondary transfers. With no raised obstacles on the floor, personnel movement and material delivery do not interfere with each other.
Main Parameters of the Conveying System (Customizable):
| Parameter | Standard Configuration | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Chain Pitch | 160~250 mm | Selected based on load capacity |
| Conveying Speed | 0.5~6 m/min, VFD controlled | Customizable |
| Trolley Top Size | 2400×1400 mm | Fits 1.5~5 ton forklifts; customizable up to 5000×2200 mm |
| Load Capacity per Trolley | 3~10 t | Customizable by forklift tonnage |
| Trolley Height (off ground) | ≤150 mm | Low-profile design for easy loading/unloading |
| Drive Motor Power | 3~7.5 kW | Configured based on line length |
| Trench Depth | 400~600 mm | Includes maintenance space |
Workstation Layout and Process Flow
The assembly line is divided into workstations according to the process sequence. The standard workflow includes: chassis loading, drive axle & steering axle installation, powertrain assembly, hydraulic pump station & pipeline connection, mast assembly hoisting, counterweight installation, tire assembly, cab & overhead guard installation, electrical harness & instrument assembly, seat & trim parts installation, and fluid filling. The mast station is equipped with lifting equipment, the filling station features quantitative filling machines, and tightening stations are outfitted with torque-controlled tools and data acquisition systems, ensuring traceability for critical processes.
Overall Line Planning Parameters (Customizable):
| Parameter | Standard Configuration | Remarks |
|---|---|---|
| Total Line Length | 60~150 m | Straight / L-shape / U-shape layouts available |
| Station Pitch (Distance) | 3.5~6 m | Customized based on forklift length + operator space |
| Number of Workstations | 12~30 | Divided according to process requirements |
| Takt Time | 10~60 min/unit | Set according to capacity planning |
| Line Width | 1.5~2.5 m for side operation areas each | Includes aisle space for material racks |
| Annual Capacity Reference | 5,000~30,000 units (Single shift) | Calculated based on takt time and shift schedule |
Line-side Logistics and Ergonomics
Standardized material racks and bins are arranged on both sides of the line to ensure fixed-position delivery. Large components are loaded via overhead cranes or jib cranes (lifting capacity 0.5~5 t, customized by part weight), while small and medium parts are replenished by delivery carts according to the takt time. The workstations offer ample operating space, and the assembly height complies with ergonomic standards. Workstation lighting (illuminance ≥500 lx), compressed air interfaces (0.6~0.8 MPa), and power sockets are provided along the line. Operators can work comfortably while the line is stopped, effectively reducing labor intensity and assembly errors.
Flexible Mixed-model Production and Takt Time Design
The line supports mixed-model production of forklifts with different tonnages and power types. Switching between models is achieved solely through varying workstation process documents and materials, requiring no hardware modifications. The takt time can be adjusted via variable frequency settings within the range of 10 to 60 minutes. The line length and number of stations are customized according to the product program, meeting both mass production demands and accommodating small-batch, multi-variety order models.
End-of-line Testing Section
The end of the assembly line connects to a testing area, which includes mast lifting tests, chain tension and fork leveling, rated load tests, braking and steering performance inspections, hydraulic sealing checks, and overall appearance inspections. The number of testing stations and the area of the testing zone are customized based on the testing takt time, ensuring that every forklift meets factory standards upon roll-off.
